In September 2016, Guo Yurong, Chairwoman and Party Secretary of SUSTech spoke at the school’s opening ceremony.

From the first day of it’s founding, SUSTech has been under the spotlight. It is an experimental field to reform Chinese higher education, and it is for that particular reason that it was launched in Shenzhen, a city which knows reform especially well. In those 5 years it has established a significant place in the field of education and aims to become a global research center.
