On April 20, SUSTech signed an agreement with Shenzhen Senior High School Group to build a “Joint Education Base for Innovative Talents.”Attendees of the signing ceremony included University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong and Shenzhen Senior High School Principal Huang Xianfu.
Guo Yurong spoke highly of the vital role Shenzhen Senior High School has played in the continued development of education in Shenzhen throughout its two decades of history. As one of the best high schools in the city, Shenzhen Senior High School is among the high schools that send most graduates to SUSTech. She hopes the two parties will communicate and collaborate more to discover a better education model which would benefit everybody.
Principal Huang Xianfu expressed his appreciation for Guo Yurong’s full recognition of Shenzhen Senior High School’s contribution and achievements. Huang believed that the future joint education base and other collaborative efforts would result in a better way of discovering and fostering top talents. Huang assured SUSTech that Shenzhen Senior High School would be supportive of SUSTech in all possible ways, including continuing to recommend top students to the university.
At the end of the ceremony, Chairperson Guo awarded Shenzhen Senior High School a plaque that declared “Joint Education Base for Innovative Talents” before the two parties officially signed the agreements. The signees are SUSTech Chief Accountant Ye Qin and Shenzhen Senior High School Vice President Li Aisheng. The joint education base will allow both parties to demonstrate their respective advantages, develop a comprehensive teaching and research model, and explore the most effective system to bridge the gap between secondary and tertiary education. The education base will be the hub for scientific lecture series, tutorial programs for technological studies, Advanced Placement courses, innovation laboratories, and an Academy of Sciences for Youth.
