SUSTech hosts Geophysics Review Group

With June coming to a rapid end, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was the host of the first working meeting of the Geophysics Review Group for the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. Experts from the Geophysics Review Group were joined by representatives from high-level universities like Peking University, Nanjing University, and Zhejiang University attended the meeting.

Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences Chen Xiaofei convened the Geophysics Review Group and hosted the meeting.

Deputy Head of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences Zhang Wei talked about the Review Group’s work for 2017 and the plans for 2018. Attendees discussed a range of issues, including the core curriculum of postgraduate geophysics students.

The delegates talked about the problems in the current specialties within geophysics and promoted an improved setting for geophysics and its specialties. They also encouraged the further development of the postgraduate curriculum.
