Following the assessment of many teachers across Guangdong Province, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and Federation of Trade Unions announced the winners.

Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Lecturer Chen Yimao from the Department of Mathematics won the 3rd place in the Science group. This follows his receipt of a special prize in the SUSTech Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition in 2017.

There are four major teaching categories in the competition. They are liberal arts, science, engineering, and political education. Each group uses a similar set of three steps for judgment. Each contestant needs to design their lesson, teach it and then reflect upon the course taught. Institutions nominate their own candidates, and experts prearranged by the competition organizing committee to judge the candidates. Throughout the competition, Chen Yimao’s fluent English, excellent lesson plans and professional explanations of the content demonstrated the strength of the Department of Mathematics at SUSTech. It also reflects positively on the young lecturers at SUSTech.
