Last week saw a visit from a delegation led by Director Wang Siqiang of the National Energy Administration (NEA), Science and Technology Division. The delegation came to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) to research SUSTech’s progress and innovation around hydrogen energy technology and its industrial development.
SUSTech President Chen Shiyi welcomed the delegation to campus. The delegation also included key government officials from energy bureaus at the national, provincial and municipal levels, while SUSTech invited leaders in industrial development to attend.
Mr. Wang Siqiang and his delegation visited the 3D campus construction planning sand table, SUSTech Fuel Cell Co., Ltd., the Clean Energy Research Institute. They also saw the “Peter Pan” UAV in action.
President Chen Shiyi gave Director Wang Siqiang and his entourage a briefing about SUSTech’s development, focusing on its achievements in energy science, technology and engineering.
Mr. Wang Siqiang hoped that SUSTech would highlight key points in energy research, to take advantage of its resources and expand the space for further innovation.
Director Zhao Yusheng of the Office of research talked about the development of energy research at SUSTech while Dean Liu Ke of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship introduced the progress of his new team in clean coal research. Professor Wang Haijiang and Xu Wenhui, both from the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, reported on fuel cell technology, with a specific focus on its industrialization and R&D. They were followed by Head of Department Rong Yiming, who briefed the NEA team about the Department’s focus on energy. Professor Cao Renjing presented an alternative perspective by discussing new developments in wind energy research.
