The last week of November saw Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcome a delegation from the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (NAMS). Dean Vitalii Tsymbaliuk and Deputy Dean Mykola Tronko led the delegation. They met with SUSTech Vice President Lu Chun, School of Medicine Dean Xing Mingzhao, School of Medicine Chair Professor Dong Jintang, and Professor Zhang Jian.
In their meeting, both sides discussed the development of schools of medicine.
After the meeting, NAMS Dean Vitalii Tsymbaliuk gave a lecture about modern trends and treatment methods of nerve transportation.
Deputy Dean Mykola Tronko followed with a presentation on the research results of radiation-induced thyroid cancer following the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, as well as stem cell treatment methods.
The NAMS delegation also took part in a campus tour, where they visited the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center, the Core Research Facilities, and the School of Medicine. The group learned about the development of SUSTech and its research achievements. They also traveled to the First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech (Shenzhen People’s Hospital) to discuss academic exchange opportunities.
NAMS is one of the top medical science institutions in Ukraine. The Academy of Sciences attaches great importance to both basic and applied research, enjoying high authority at home and abroad. Members of the delegation were from NAMS and its affiliate institutions.
