As 2019 came to a close, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) held a conference to review its work in 2019 and plans for 2020. Founding ESE Head and Vice-Provost (Global Strategies) Zheng Chunmiao chaired the conference, which was attended by every ESE faculty member.

Vice-Provost (Global Strategies) Zheng Chunmiao reviewed the efforts of ESE through 2019 and thanked the faculty members for their hard work. He said that 2020 would mark the 5th anniversary of the founding of ESE, and he hoped that they would seize the unprecedented opportunities arising from the pioneering demonstration zone of Shenzhen & the industrial transformation of the Greater Bay Area.

ESE Deputy Head Professor Liu Junguo and Professor Zheng Yi went into more detail on a wide range of topics.

Later parts of the conference focused on the goals for 2020, with everyone agreeing that ESE should re-examine the cross-disciplinary approach of environmental science to enhance the theoretical and practical skills of students. Such an approach would further enhance the reputation of ESE while also encouraging students to get a better understanding of the social concepts that support their studies.
