On January 8, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Academician Wang Chi and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell (UMass Lowell) Professor Song Pu to campus. They came together to give the 254^th lecture in the SUSTech Lecture Series, which was hosted by the Department of Earth and Space Sciences Professor Ye Shengyi.

CAS Academician Wang Chi is the director of the CAS National Center for Space Science, director of the State Key Laboratory of Space Weather, and the chief scientist of the strategic pilot project of Space Science (phase II). He is also the deputy chief designer of Chang’e 4 Project. Wang Chi has long been engaged in the research of space physics & space weather, having published more than 200 papers in high-impact journals.

Professor Song Pu works in both the Department of Physics and the Department of Environmental Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at UMass Lowell. He is the director of the Space Science Laboratory. Professor Song has significant scientific research experience in space physics, ranging from the sun and solar wind to the ionosphere and heliosphere of the magnetosphere.

At the end of the two presentations, they took many questions from the audience of faculty members, staff, and students.
