Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province visits SUSTech

On May 21, 2021, Jiabin QI, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, and his delegation visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Yurong GUO, University Council Chairperson at SUSTech, welcomed the guests.

Dihua HE, Deputy Inspector General of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, and Zhuowen LI, Deputy Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal Government, were also part of the delegation.

Yurong GUO said that SUSTech is a research university rooted in China and is striving on the “dual-zone” initiative of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone. She noted that being part of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone is important in SUSTech’s drive to become a world-class research University.

Jiabin QI spoke highly of the achievements of SUSTech in the last ten years and said that the people of Jiangsu Province have always attached great importance to the innovation and leading role of higher education. He hopes that both parties will deepen cooperation and make more outstanding contributions towards the development of society.

Other members of Jiabin QI’s delegation included Lefu ZHANG, Deputy Secretary-General of Jiangsu Province, Qin WANG, Director-General of the Department of Science and Technology of Jiangsu Province, Hao HONG, Deputy Director of the Office of Human Resources of Jiangsu Province, and Qiang LI, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Jiangsu Province.

Chun LU, Vice President of SUSTech, Yusheng ZHAO, Acting Vice President and Dean of the SUSTech Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, and Siqi CHEN, Director of the Office of Party Affairs and Administration, also attended the meeting.
