SUSTech welcomes President of Shandong University

On August 6, 2021, Liming FAN, President of Shandong University (SDU), and her delegation visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, members of the University’s leadership team, heads of relevant departments, faculty representatives welcomed the guests.

President Qikun XUE gave an introduction about SUSTech and its achievements in recent years. He said that SUSTech is a new type of research university rooted in China, assisting with developing the “dual-zone” of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone.

He hopes that both parties will strengthen exchanges in the future and make further developments in talent training and scientific research.

Liming FAN spoke about the current state of affairs at SDU and its development plans. She noted that the University has a rich history with distinctive features and will celebrate its 120th anniversary this year.

She acknowledged the achievements of SUSTech and expects both sides to build a new chapter together in deepening cooperation in talent training and scientific research.

Dongxiao ZHANG, Vice President and Provost of SUSTech, spoke about the development of the University’s faculty and postgraduate curriculum.

Before the meeting, Liming FAN and her delegation visited SUSTech’s exhibition of development and achievements and the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center.

Yanhua LU, Vice President of SDU, Haiming JING, Director of the Servicing for Shandong Office at SDU, and Chuanjian ZHOU, Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology at SDU, accompanied President Liming Fan on her visit.

Susheng WANG, Member of the Presidential Executive Council at SUSTech and Director of the Office of Planning & Development, also participated in the event.
