On May 18, 2022, Xiaogan LI, President of the Shenzhen Culture, Creativity & Design Association, visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Fengliang LI, University Council Chairperson, and Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson of SUSTech and Chairman of the Trade Union, welcomed Mr. LI and his delegation as they held exchanges with regard to the School of Design.

At the meeting, Thomas Kvan, Dean of the School of Design, reported on the current state of affairs and progress of the newly formed School of Design.

Vice-Chairperson Ling ZHANG said that President Xiaogan LI was one of the main promoters of the project of SIDI (Shenzhen Institute of Design and Innovation), and thanked him for his continuous support for the School of Design and SUSTech. As one of the “Shenzhen Ten Cultural Facilities of New Era”, the development of SIDI will be high on the agenda of the University, and SUSTech will strive to facilitate its more rapid growth, helping with the development of creative design in Shenzhen and the building of a global city for innovation and creativity.

In his remarks, Xiaogan LI spoke highly of the innovative achievements and development of SUSTech, and recalled his deep relations with the University that he once engaged in the campus development of SUSTech and the preparation of SIDI.

He commented that the current positioning and features of the School of Design are very pleasing, and it will continue to develop and realize great successes in the future. He looks forward to the school strengthening its relationship with various associations, enterprises, and industries, and keeping pace with global trends. Additionally, he hopes it will cultivate more outstanding creative design talents, and make major contributions to the cultural creativity and design development of Shenzhen.

During their visit, Xiaogan LI and his delegation were given a guided tour of the School of Design.
