On the afternoon of December 18, 2015, SUSTC Vice President Qin Zheng chaired the meeting in Meeting Room 301 of Administration Building to deploy the safety work in SUSTC. Members of SUSTC Safety Management Committee and principals of departments and schools in SUSTC attended the meeting.
On the morning of December 18, an accident happened in a laboratory in a Chinese university. Vice President Qin Zheng emphasized at the meeting that all SUSTC departments and schools should focus on safety, in particular the laboratory safety. The meeting required that Department of Chemistry, Department of Biology, Department of Electrics and Electronics, Department of Physics and Department of Materials Science and Engineering in Research Building 1 and 2 should kick off laboratory safety review, organize faculty members to study all safety management documents of SUSTC, improve the laboratory safety management rules and regulations complying with their respective realities, and implement the laboratory safety on-duty regulations. The SUSTC safety management work should be done on a routine basis. All departments and schools should improve their respective safety management rules and regulations, conduct safety review and ensure the safety in their respective regions.
