On March 8, the closing ceremony of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) – Tencent “Technology Practice Project” (Project) was successfully completed.
The project is a short-term internship jointly developed by the SUSTech Graduate School and Tencent. In order to achieve industry-university collaborative education and develop a top talent pipeline, technical instructors from Tencent were selected to guide students to carry out technical practice based on real-world corporate scenarios. These projects improve students’ ability to apply their knowledge when they enter a workplace environment thereby enhancing interaction between employers and students.
As part of the project, Tencent provided two topics that students could choose from. From December 2018 to January 2019, students were trained under the guidance of technical instructors via online conference calls, offline instructor meetings and on-site technical practice at Tencent headquarters. At the closing ceremony two weeks ago, 18 students were successful at the end of their projects. There were 4 excellent students and 1 excellent subject group. The excellent trainees were interviewed and could receive internships, based on each student’s project and interview performance.
This is the second short-term internship project, following a similar collaboration with DJI last year. The SUSTech Graduate School will continue to enhance its industry-university collaboration, focusing on the practical needs of students and pairing those needs with the characteristics of different industries. Future collaborations could see partnerships in industries as diverse as high-tech, biology, finance, Internet of Things, new energy, new materials, new generation information technology, health care and aerospace engineering.
