Last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the Art and Science Seminar. SUSTech Vice President Tang Tao was joined by Guangdong Provincial Government Counselor Zhou Changhu and more than 50 experts, scholars and music lovers all over the world.
The Shenzhen Art and Science Association held its first general meeting with SUSTech Arts Center Director Bi Baoyi elected as the President of the First Council of the Association.
The Association will gather various professional literature and art groups along with colleges and universities across Shenzhen to promote exchanges between art and science. It will provide support for cultivating innovative talents and the development of interdisciplinary fields of art and science in Shenzhen.
SUSTech Vice President Tang Tao said that as an innovative science and engineering university, SUSTech has always paid attention to cultivating the spirit of the liberal arts and the humanities. Establishment the Association is responding to the development of a culturally strong country and city. He hopes that the Association will gather more power to promote art and science in Shenzhen.
Counselor Zhou Changhu said that creating the Association is a pioneering act that breaks convention and will lead Shenzhen to a broader vision for art and science.
The Seminar followed the general meeting of the Association. It was hosted by the SUSTech Arts Center with three sub-forums on “The Future of Artificial Intelligence and Art”, “Intersection of Music and Medical Science” and “Music Education for Cultivating Scientists”. There were ten keynote speakers, with in-depth exchanges on many topics.
