On May 28 and 29, The Seminar on University Numerical Mathematics and the Editorial Board Meeting of Numerical Mathematics: A Journal of Chinese Universities was held at SUSTech. The session aims to promote communication among researchers of numerical mathematics. Nearly 30 scholars from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University and other universities, whose research areas cover partial differential equation, optimization, inverse problem, matrix calculation and image processing, attended the event.

This session was initiated by the editorial board of Numerical Mathematics: A Journal of Chinese Universities and organized by the Department of Mathematics of SUSTech. The organizing committee includes Prof. Wu Haijun from Nanjing University, Prof. Dai Hua from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Prof. Li Jingzhi from the Department of Mathematics of SUSTech.

At the opening ceremony on the morning of May 28, Tang Tao, professor and Vice President of SUSTech, Xia Zhihong, professor and Chair of Department of Mathematics, and He Bingsheng, specially appointed professor of Department of Mathematics and newly-appointed chief editor of Numerical Mathematics: A Journal of Chinese Universities, gave speeches respectively and briefed the participants on SUSTech and its Department of Mathematics. Then the attendees were divided into five groups to have discussions over relevant issues of numerical mathematics, which lasted one and a half day.

On the afternoon of May 28, the editorial board meeting of Numerical Mathematics: A Journal of Chinese Universities was held.
