On April 21st 2017, SUSTech held the University Council Center Group (expanded) special learning session, which serves the purpose of studying and practising the general secretary Xi Jinping’s ideology implementation through a series of important speeches and work instructions. University Council chairwoman Guo Yu-rong was present to lead the meeting as well as the main leadership members, party committee members, discipline committee members, middle-level cadres, the party branch secretary, and various other important local figures. The meeting was presided over by Li Fengliang, vice-president of the University Council and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission.
During the session, various key members of SUSTech’s senior management took to the stage including Guo Yurong to convey the importance of studying and practising the guidelines of General Secretary Xi Jinping. She said that although the university’s goal is to become a world-class research center, it also has the responsibility to “strengthen the organization and leadership, strengthen the daily work of ideological and political work, strengthen the ideological front position, strengthen the party building and mass organizations”.
Li Fengliang concluded the session by saying that the University Council has an important political task, and that at all levels, the party organizations should understand the extreme importance of the ideological work series of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and should implement with full enthusiasm the guidelines.
