SUSTech President donates self-developed technology to Affiliated Hospital

On March 12, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) President Chen Shiyi led a delegation to the First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech (Shenzhen People’s Hospital). He was met by the First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech President Qiu Chen.

On behalf of SUSTech, President Chen Shiyi donated self-developed technology to the hospital in the form of anti-fog disinfectant wipes and mask regenerators, both developed by teams in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

He expressed his greatest respect and heartfelt thanks to the many front-line medical workers of the First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech who had given up their livelihoods to fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a speech, President Chen Shiyi highlighted the role of the School of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals would play in developing SUSTech into a world-class university while supporting the healthcare needs of the people of Shenzhen. He hopes that the resources of the School of Medicine, Department of Biology, and Department of Biomedical Engineering will further integrate with the Affiliated Hospital, to provide a comprehensive clinical medical education with a high-impact research influence.

First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech President Qiu Chen thanked SUSTech for its ongoing support, saying that its staff remains resolute in their fight against the novel coronavirus. They would continue to promote mutual research partnerships with the School of Medicine to develop into an internationally recognized healthcare provider and research institution.
