On May 23, after two years of meticulous preparation, Zhiren College Folk Orchestra brought a harmonious musical performance to the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) people that incorporated a blend of ancient and modern times. Nearly 600 faculty members and students attended the event, which was held in the SUSTech Convention Center.
The performance was part of a series of events held by SUSTech to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. “Green Lake Spring Dawn,” performed under the direction of young conductor Xinchi XU, opened the show.
Throughout the evening, a series of performances captivated the audience with the diverse recitals and skill sets of the different members of the Orchestra. There was a selection of classical and ancient folk music, as well as the integration of western string music and solo performances.
The Zhiren College Folk Orchestra has more than fifty members and has been performing since 2014. They have given significant concerts on campus every year while also performing off-campus on many occasions.
