On April 23, an Exhibition of university mottos was held at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Yurong GUO, University Council Chairperson, Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, and heads of relevant departments attended the exhibition.

The exhibition was sponsored by the Office of Communications & Public Relations (CPR). The exhibition displayed the motto of well-known universities at home and abroad, ancient Chinese academies, and liberated area universities in the Yan’an period. The exhibition was held from April 23 to 30.

The university motto is the code of conduct and ethics that all faculty members and students abide by. It reflects an institution’s ideology, management, and spirit but also its campus culture and educational philosophy.

At the spring semester strategic seminar, President Qikun XUE noted that SUSTech should reform its university motto to enhance the university’s development. With the significance of the university motto in mind, SUSTech held many activities to bring it into play. This exhibition was one of them.

The exhibition has attracted many faculty members and students who said they had a deeper understanding of the connotation and role of the University’s motto through the exhibition. They expected SUSTech to further summarize and refine its spirit to build a spiritual and cultural foundation for its longstanding development.
