From November 30 to December 1, 2021, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the High-End Forum on Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics and the 5^th Meeting of the Ministry of Education (MoE) Department of Mechanical Engineering Teaching Steering Committee Conference. 

Experts and scholars attended the conference. This included Zhenghe XU, Dean of the College of Engineering at SUSTech and Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Guangren DUAN, Professor at SUSTech/Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Hong ZHANG, Professor at SUSTech and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Peigen LI, former President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Academician of CAE, Jianrong TAN, Professor of Zhejiang University and Academician of CAE,  Zongquan DENG, Vice President of HIT and Academician of CAE,  Hong QIAO, Professor at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) and Academician of CAS, and Jiansheng DAI, Professor of King’s College London and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK).

The event was also attended by Li WEN, Director of the Intelligent Equipment Division of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission. The two-day event was held in a combination of both online and offline.

Zhenghe XU delivered a speech at the conference. In his remarks, he said that Shenzhen is a pioneering demonstration zone. As a new type of research university, SUSTech is actively exploring new technologies, seizing the advantages offered of the “dual-zone”, and using science and technology to contribute to the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the country.

At the conference, the opening ceremonies of the Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Biomimetic Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Human-Augmentation and Rehabilitation Robotics in Universities.

During the special session for the Academicians and Fellows, Peigen LI, Jianrong TAN, Jiansheng DAI, and Guangren DUAN also gave keynote speeches at the conference.

The conference was divided into three sections, discussing medical and rehabilitation robotics, special robots, and intelligent manufacturing. The participants conducted in-depth exchanges on the future development of manufacturing and other topics.
