On August 16, 2022, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and China Coal Energy Co., Ltd. (China Coal Energy) held a strategic cooperation agreement ceremony at the University.

The delegation from China Coal Energy included Chairman Shudong WANG and Vice-General Manager Jiayu NI.

Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost, and Susheng WANG, Member of the Presidential Executive Council and General Counsel, attended the signing ceremony.

President Qikun XUE noted that the strategic cooperation agreement between SUSTech and China Coal Energy is a win-win for both parties and would complement each other through the sharing of resources.

Based on the national strategy in developing Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), he hopes that both sides can focus on the major strategic needs of the country, as well as the development of key technologies in the fields of hydrogen energy, carbon energy, and intelligent manufacturing.

President XUE added that SUSTech and China Coal Energy aim to jointly build a research platform, strengthen talent training, accelerate the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, and develop strategic emerging industries.

In his remarks, Shudong WANG acknowledged the achievements of SUSTech in recent years.

He noted that China Coal Energy is closely aligned with the strategy of “four reforms and one cooperation” put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping for energy security in the country, which points out the direction for comprehensively accelerating the construction of a new and modern energy system.

He added that they are also focused on the implementation of carbon dioxide peaking and carbon neutrality. He hopes that the two sides can establish stronger cooperation to further promote scientific research, achievement transformation, and talent training, and jointly support the development of the industrial economy.

Hongwei FANG and Jiayu NI signed the contract agreement as representatives of both parties.

Before the signing ceremony, Shudong WANG and his delegation also visited the SUSTech exhibition of development and achievements.
