The results of the IndySCC Student Supercomputing Competition (IndySCC22) held by the Supercomputing Conference (SC22) were recently announced.
The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Supercomputing Team, composed of six undergraduates, finished in the second place in the Hero HPL Challenge and second overall in the IndySCC22.
This is the first time that the SUSTech Supercomputing Team has participated in the IndySCC competition, and appeared in the finals with teams from other universities, including the CSC Finnish University Alliance Team (CSC, Finland Team), Clemson University, Durham University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Monash University.
The Supercomputing Team of SUSTech is co-led by Zhuozhao LI, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Jing FAN, Chief Engineer of the Center for Computational Science and Engineering (CCSE), and Jiahua ZHAO and Tongzhou GU, former captains of the supercomputing team.
The captain of the current SUSTech Supercomputing Team is Yingwei ZHENG, an undergraduate student of the Class of 2024 from the Department of CSE.
The team comprises undergraduate students from the Department of CSE, including Bingzhen WANG, Jixiao ZHANG, Tingzhen DONG, Junfeng CHEN, and Jianan ZHU.
The team is active in major international supercomputing competitions and has achieved excellent results, demonstrating SUSTech’s strong performance in the area of supercomputing.
The IndySCC is a new online high-performance student computing competition created in 2021 by the Supercomputing Conference.
The teams competed remotely, using hardware secured by the supercomputing committee on the Chameleon Cloud platform. A total of ten teams competed in this year’s competition from all over the world.
