The IEEE International Conference on Communications 2023 (ICC 2023) was recently held in Rome, Italy.
The paper “Radar Sensing via OTFS Signaling: A Delay Doppler Signal Processing Perspective” co-authored by scholars from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Tsinghua University, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and Zhejiang University (ZJU) won the Best Paper Award at the IEEE ICC 2023.
Kecheng ZHANG, a doctoral student of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) at SUSTech, is the first author of this paper. Weijie YUAN and Fan LIU, Assistant Professors of the Department of EEE, are the second and fourth authors, respectively.
The award-winning paper reveals the intrinsic connection between Orthogonal Time Frequency Space (OTFS) and delay-Doppler (DD) domain radar signal processing.
The analysis shows that the calculation process of the range-Doppler matrix of radar is highly consistent with the demodulation process of OTFS under rectangular pulse shaping. In addition, the paper proposes a super-resolution algorithm based on a two-dimensional correlation operation to estimate the fractional delay and Doppler parameters in radar sensing.
The IEEE ICC is one of the IEEE Communications Society’s flagship conferences, bringing together audiences from both industry and academia to learn about the latest research and innovations in communications and networking technology, share ideas and best practices, and collaborate on future projects.
Each year, nearly 2,000 attendees from over 70 countries attend the conference to take advantage of a program consisting of exciting keynote sessions, robust technical paper sessions, innovative tutorials and workshops, and engaging industry sessions.
This year’s conference received a total of 2,778 submissions from 75 countries around the world. Of these submissions, 1,098 papers were accepted, and the award committee selected 16 best papers.
