SUSTech hosts “Science-Humanities-Art” Shenzhen Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition

On June 10, the “Science-Humanities-Art” Shenzhen Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition was held at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Convention Center.

More than 120 calligraphy and painting works from the Shenzhen Artists Association and faculty members and students of SUSTech were presented at the event.

Changlong YIN, Director of the Cultural and Historical Division of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Jing LI, Chairman of Shenzhen Calligraphers Association, Dajin TANG, Chairman of the Shenzhen Calligraphers and Painters Association, Chunhua HU, the delegate to the 20th National Congress of the CPC, Fengliang LI, University Council Chairperson, famous calligrapher and painter, and the Advisory Group of the Shenzhen Calligraphy and Painting Association attended the exhibition.

Yanyue LIN, Vice Chairman of the Shenzhen Calligraphers and Painters Association, presided over the event.

In his remarks at the event, Chairperson Fengliang LI noted that the current holding of the 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), which is co-hosted by SUSTech and the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, is an important measure to learn and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important expositions on cultural construction and civilization development, and to help build Shenzhen into a globally influential science and technology innovation center.

As a “Double First-Class” university, SUSTech has been committed to exploring the path of cultural innovation and development, and demonstrating the responsibility of a new type of research university.

He noted that this exhibition is a vivid practice of SUSTech, bringing together people from all walks of life to create a campus culture of “Science-Popularization-Fiction”. He added that SUSTech would continue to make breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation, strengthen integration and promotion of the University’s culture and regional development, and contribute to the high-quality development of Shenzhen and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Jing LI also spoke at the opening ceremony. He said that the Shenzhen Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition is of great significance, combining science, humanities, and art, and moves towards scientific creation and artistic creation, which is a bridge between urban cultural life and scientific research.

He stressed that scientific creation would change lives, and the spirit of art would enhance the spirit of humanities, which will also enhance students’ creative spirit. He hopes to work together with SUSTech and other universities to achieve a new realm of science, humanities, and art in the current cultural era.

The exhibition consisted of three parts: New Knowledge, Microscopic Vision, and Calligraphy and Painting Art.

It included more than 20 scientific research works from the scientific research team at SUSTech, more than 20 works of various photography competitions at SUSTech, more than 70 calligraphy and paintings works collected by the Shenzhen Calligraphers and Painters Association, and 16 calligraphy and painting works of faculty members and students of SUSTech.

The event was hosted by the Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles and SUSTech, and co-organized by the Shenzhen Calligraphers and Painters Association, Office of Communications & Public Relations at SUSTech, and the Trade Union of SUSTech.
