A delegation from the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau recently visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) for fruitful exchanges and insights.

The delegation, led by Shuang CHEN, Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau, included Qixue ZHANG, Vice President of Guangzhou University (GZHU), Jin LI, Director of the Scientific Research and Development Office of GZHU, and representatives from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

During the visit, Hong JIANG, University Council Chairperson of SUSTech, Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson, and heads of related departments engaged in discussions with the guests.

Chairperson Hong JIANG provided insights into SUSTech’s developmental journey, distinctive enrollment approach, scientific research advancements, and commitment to nurturing top-tier innovative talents. She emphasized SUSTech’s status as a young research university and expressed the University’s eagerness to learn from the advanced educational experiences of partner institutions in Guangzhou.

Regarding talent training, SUSTech has continuously focused on cultivating future scientists, exceptional engineers, and innovative entrepreneurs, and persists in exploring and innovating within areas like the college and tutor systems. Chairperson JIANG expressed hope for enhanced communication and collaboration between both parties to chart new pathways for talent development.

Shuang CHEN acknowledged SUSTech’s rapid and high-quality development in recent years and commended the University for its educational achievements across various domains. She reiterated the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau’s desire for deeper engagement to bolster the establishment of a high-quality education system, contributing to the province’s overall development.

As part of their visit, Shuang CHEN and her delegation were given a tour of the campus, which included the SUSTech exhibition of development and achievements and Shuren College.
