On March 25, a delegation from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), led by Dongfeng HE, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of COMAC, visited the Southern University of Science and Technology.

They were welcomed by Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost, and representatives of related departments for discussions and exchanges.

President Qikun XUE commended COMAC for its outstanding contributions to China’s aviation industry. He reaffirmed SUSTech’s commitment to advancing national strategic priorities through basic research and talent development, emphasizing the University’s dedication to supporting the country’s high-tech manufacturing sector. He also highlighted the importance of deep collaboration between industry, academia, and research in driving scientific and technological advancement.

Chairman Dongfeng HE acknowledged SUSTech’s rapid growth and high-quality development, providing an overview of COMAC’s product portfolio and ongoing projects. He expressed strong interest in strengthening ties with SUSTech in key areas such as basic research, product development, and talent cultivation. He added that by leveraging their respective strengths, both parties could contribute to enhancing the nation’s industrial manufacturing.

During the meeting, Vice President Hongwei FANG provided insights into SUSTech’s academic programs, faculty, research achievements, and student training initiatives. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on potential collaborations related to domestic commercial aircraft development.

Following the discussions, Dongfeng HE and his delegation visited SUSTech’s Advanced Aerodynamics and Aeroacoustics Laboratory and the Intelligent Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Laboratory, gaining a detailed understanding of the University’s research facilities.
