On the afternoon of June 5, 2026, Professor Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, the President of Bandung Institute of Technology (Institut Teknologi Bandung, ITB) in Indonesia, led a delegation on a visit to the College of Engineering at SUSTech. Mingwei CHEN, the Dean of the College of Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), met with the delegation for in-depth discussions, during which both sides explored prospects for collaboration in engineering education, scientific research, and internationalization.

At the meeting, Mingwei CHEN introduced the development of the College of Engineering at SUSTech. He highlighted the College’s notable achievements in internationalization, including partnerships established with several world-renowned universities, the construction of international joint laboratories is steadily advancing, and its international academic influence continues to grow. Mingwei CHEN also shared SUSTech’s efforts in deeply integrating industry, academia, and research, actively promoting university-industry cooperation, and exploring practices that serve local economic and social development.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and provided a detailed overview of ITB. He stated that ITB is one of Indonesia’s oldest and most prestigious engineering and technology universities, with seven research centers and nine centers of excellence in science and technology. Currently, ITB has proposed the development vision of a “Fourth-Generation University,” focusing on interdisciplinary development, cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship talents, and continuously expanding its global cooperation network.
Following the presentations, the two sides engaged in a free-flowing discussion on topics such as the cultivation of internationally minded talent, academic exchanges, and joint research. They unanimously stated that they will continue to promote faculty and student exchanges and academic communication, actively explore cooperation in joint research and technology transfer, and work together to contribute to the development of engineering education and technological innovation in both countries.
