Symposium on the Roadmap for Key Technology of Green Synthesis of Chemical Drugs held at SUSTech

 SUSTech co-sponsored the “Symposium on the Roadmap for Key Technology of Green Synthesis of Chemical Drugs” along with the Shenzhen Association of Life Science and Biotechnology, the SUSTech Department of Chemistry, the SUSTech Technology Transfer Center and the SUSTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute. The event was held on November 2, 2017 and marked the founding of the Beijing Collaborative Innovation Research Institute-Southern University of Science and Technology Joint Laboratory of Green Synthesis of Chemical Drugs.

The conference focused on the latest research in green synthesis of chemical drugs and invited 12 research professors, 9 technical experts and 16 entrepreneurs to discuss how research can be integrated into the pharmaceutical industry, and how to build platform for effective exchange and cooperation.

Zhang Xumu, chairman of the conference and chair of the Department of Chemistry, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a speech to the audience in which he presented the latest research results in green synthesis of chemical drugs. Wang Yanli, secretary general of Shenzhen Association of Life Science and Biotechnology also gave a speech in which he introduced and analyzed the development of the biomedicine industry in Shenzhen. The speeches were then followed by in-depth discussions between the participants on how to further develop this field.

After the discussions, the  Beijing Collaborative Innovation Research Institute-Southern University of Science and Technology Joint Laboratory of Green Synthesis of Chemical Drugs was unveiled during its inaugurating ceremony. The laboratory will focus on green drug synthesis and will aim to contribute to international advanced scientific research projects as well as promote the transfer of the technologies to the industry.

This event has highlighted and further strengthend the influence of SUSTech and the city of Shenzhen in the field of green synthesis of chemical drugs, and will contribute to the internationalization of the university in that field. It also serves to promote the innovation and development of the biomedical industry in Shenzhen.
