Recently, the SUSTech Graduate School worked with the Graduate Students Career Development Mission Group to co-host three consecutive “Top Enterprise Open Days”.
On the first open day, 38 students from nine departments arrived at BYD Shenzhen Headquarters and visited the main hall, technology museum, automobile showroom, and production line. Experienced engineers shared their knowledge and research findings, while the HR manager introduced the internship program and career development at BYD.
The second open day took place at Sangfor Technology Ltd., attracting 18 students from 9 departments. SUSTech graduate students learned about Sangfor’s history and development, before their technological research engineers talked about AI, innovation in network safety and cloud computing. The HR Director introduced talent policies and a variety of opportunities for internship and employment.
The third open day took place at Baidu, where 16 SUSTech students from eight departments got a comprehensive understanding of the company’s history, development, corporate culture. They also got a better insight into selected Baidu products such as the use of big data in search engine optimization, intelligent speech recognition and Baidu Index, their take on trending topics within Baidu. The Manager of Internationalized Product Research and Development Center introduced the Baidu talent scheme, staff benefits, and requirements for internship and employment. Research and Development Engineers presented the natural language processing and input method models, along with other technical knowledge essential to the development of Baidu’s success. In addition, the students provided their CVs to the interviewer and received feedback on their CVs, as well as guidance. Baidu announced later that six students had received second-round interviews because of their effort at the Open Day.
As an important activity series to help with graduate students’ employment, “Top Enterprises Opening Day” has been running for six years now. Through this activity, students can learn from a variety of experienced employees, communicate face-to-face with professionals, learn about all kinds of talent policies and employment prerequisites, and increase the chances of getting a fulfilling job.
