Today, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) released this year’s list of recommended recipients of the Research Fund for National Young Scientists. Having done all his major research at SUSTech, Vice Head of the Department of Chemistry Tan made the list along with another 199 applicants from 111 institutions.

Professor Tan joined SUSTech in September 2012. As an expert of the Thousand Talents Program for Young Professionals, he mainly studied catalytic asymmetric synthesis, guided by core skeleton structure. His research team consists of six postdoctoral researchers, five doctoral researchers, six master’s students, two research associates, and two visiting students.

Tan Bin has led three projects funded by NSFC and four projects funded by Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission. He has published over 30 academic articles on a variety of journal, including Science (one article), Nat. Chem. (one article), J. Am. Chem. Soc. (four articles), Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (eight articles), Nat. Commun. (three articles), and Acc. Chem. Res. (one article). His academic papers have been cited for over 1000 times. Many of his papers are the subject of highlighted review in leading journals such as Synfacts, Chemistry Views, Organic Chemistry Portal, and Journal of Organic Chemistry.
