Education internationalization is a key development strategy and school mission of SUSTC. SUSTC pays high attention to the cultivation and education of international talents, devotes major efforts to propelling the cooperation and communication with overseas universities, expands students’ channel of studying abroad, and provides rich and colorful and various international education chance. In the summer vacation of 2015, under the common propelling of relevant departments of SUSTC, the International Cooperation Department has sent SUSTC students to study abroad in succession, and will conduct series of follow-up reports. We look forward to the attention and support of all SUSTC teachers and students, and wish that in the future, students from each grade can enter for the SUSTC’s Study Exchange Abroad Project eagerly!
From August 10th to 23rd, 2015, 15 SUSTC students completed the two-week International Summer Vacation Study Classes in Poland University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS), Warsaw. This program was implemented under the common propelling of the International Cooperation Department, Teaching Department and Student Affairs. The cooperating university SWPS joined the Shenzhen International Friendship-city University League (SIFCUL) established leading by SUSTC in November, 2014. This International Summer Vacation Study Classes is one of the achievements of communication and cooperation propelled by the League of Nations.
Course Theme—Global and European Commercial Management
This summer vacation course was jointly taught by four teachers in relevant area from SWPS, focusing on several key elements in the economic globalization and global commercial environment, such as opportunities and challenges brought by cross-cultural communication and cultural diversity, the necessary quality to become transnational business leaders, and how to promote the development of business enterprises by using effective human resource management, etc. Through various forms like case analysis, group assignment, discussion between teachers and students and games, SUSTC students and students from Morocco, Russia and Poland further studied the history, economy, politics and culture of Europe and understood the institutional framework, integration process and financial allocation of EU in the international classes, by which they had a preliminary understanding for key concepts like the development of Eurozone and Schengen countries.
The course focused on true feeling and personal experience. Students deeply realized the importance of cross-cultural communication, the significant and profound influences that different cultural background had on people’s thought, language and behavior in the task activities. And also they understood and respected for cultural diversity, and mastered that valid communication skills in teamwork and business negotiation are the preconditions and key factors to achieve “win-win” in the cross-cultural enterprise cooperation.

Cultural Experience—First Exploration of European Humanity and Cross-cultural Communication
In the two-week summer vacation course, except rich and interesting learning contents in class, cultural investigation activities at weekends were also well organized, visiting Krakow, an old Polish city and European Capital of Culture. Under the guidance of a tourist, students went deep into the underground for over 100 meters to visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine with a history of almost 10 centuries.

During the two weeks, students made class discussion and studied with the international students in the same class, and visited cities, held cooking competition and birthday party, by which they developed a deep friendship. They gave parting advices for each other. They won’t forget the eternal classmate friendship all the life.

Successful Return—A Journey of Learning, Experience, Inspiration and Growth
Just two weeks, students had fallen in love with Warsaw, with Poland, and with Europe deeply. Finishing the study in Poland, the students return to SUSTC campus with their growth, and restart as different selves, and open new chapters.
