Chen Shiyi expanded on SUSTech’s reform in areas such as enrollment, curriculum development, and teacher training.

Vice Provost Huang Kefu gave a keynote speech about “Respecting Choice, Teaching Students in Accordance with Their Aptitudes – Undergraduate Education Based on Learning at SUSTech.” Huang highlighted undergraduate teaching at SUSTech, focusing on its development history, development strategy and talent training characteristics. He also discussed reforms of undergraduate talent training.

Director Li Ping of the Academic Affairs Office at Beijing Institute of Technology introduced the “Beijing Institute of High-Quality Curriculum Research,” the 2017 curriculum and platform developments, and the prospects for 2018.

Vice Dean Long Yonghong of the School of Information at Renmin University of China spoke about how to truly construct online courses, using real-life examples from Renmin University of China. He was effusive with his praise for the Beijing University Quality Course Research Association and their curriculum development for universities and colleges. He proposed that the symposium consider the needs of its members more often, in order to better understand their curriculum needs and requirements. Such an approach would ensure that all member universities would build and share together, creating a mutually beneficial situation in teaching affairs and efficient use of scarce resources.

Vice President Li Xiang of Beijing Winke Tiandi Electronics Co., Ltd., presented to the symposium about building decision support systems for teaching informatization. He spoke from a technical perspective as an online course platform provider, where a variety of topics were raised.

During the symposium, delegates discussed a number of issues including course selection and management, appropriate use of online courses and seeking to improve teaching results.

The symposium promoted the development of undergraduate education and teaching, the enhancement of the undergraduate curriculum system, and the elevation of undergraduate education and teaching exchanges with top domestic universities.
