Classical Music Festival ended SUSTech Symphony Orchestra debut

As spring moved into summer, the Faculty’s Home was filled with classical and modern music. Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) enjoyed a performance from the SUSTech Symphony Orchestra as part of SUSTech’s Classical Music Festival.

The entire concert spanned classical and modern music, featuring pieces by well-known classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as modern composers like Jerome Naulais. The rich and vibrant performances ranged from traditional chamber music to symphony pieces, piano trios to flute duos, stringed and woodwind music, as well as unique plucked instruments. Professor Ye Tao from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering also presented a sonata by Handel in D major.

The symphony ended with a unique percussion ensemble. The SUSTech Symphony Orchestra consists of SUSTech students that do not major in music. The concert opened with Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons – Spring,” which reflected the theme of the Classical Music Festival. The SUSTech Symphony Orchestra will continue to grow and develop through the joint efforts of students and faculty members of SUSTech.
