On August 27, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) Council Chairperson Yurong GUO and Bao’an District Education Bureau Director Yanta FAN led a delegation to the High School Affiliated to Southern University of Science and Technology (HSAS).
HSAS principal Peidong WANG accompanied the group, briefing them on the construction of the school and the other preparations ahead of its opening for its first academic year next week.
The delegation visited the teacher’s office, classrooms, scientific laboratories, art studios, and gymnasium. They also got an insight into student life by inspecting the canteens and student dormitories.
SUSTech University Council Chairperson Yurong GUO affirmed the work by the HSAS leadership team. She highlighted their enrolment and preparation work and pointed out that developing a talent pipeline is the central pathway to mature a school’s identity.
HSAS should remain student-centered as it creates the final link in the entire SUSTech educational talent pipeline, from pre-primary to tertiary education. The complete educational paradigm will result in continued innovations in talent training. Yurong GUO said, “I am full of confidence in the future development of HSAS, and I wish for the best!”
Bao’an District Education Bureau Director Yanta FAN said that HSAS is an essential part of Bao’an District’s ongoing development of high-quality education at all levels. He emphasized that HSAS was an integral part of the educational development of Bao’an District. He looked forward to HSAS becoming a world-class, research-oriented high school.
HSAS is a public high school invested in, and constructed by, the Shenzhen Municipal Government. It is designed as an experiential learning center. It will explore interdisciplinary and project-based learning to strategically inspire the students’ inherent desire to explore. Within the campus, there are unique centers such as the Institute of Future Education, the STEAM Center, the Future Classroom, and the 3D Printing Research Room. These centers provide a logical extension for the development of each student’s cognition while enriching their personality, comprehensive development, and personal growth.
