On the evening of September 26, 2020, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed new students and celebrated by holding a gala at Songhe Stadium. Fengliang LI, Vice-Chairperson, and heads of the academy, representatives of faculty members and parents, and all freshmen gathered together to enjoy this wonderful audiovisual feast.
The first performance was by the Xile Society, an adaptation of the animation “Blow!” with “Dream Solister” as the opening song. The high-spirited tune was permeated with the determination to chase dreams and work hard, igniting the enthusiasm of the audience. Immediately afterward, the party carried out recognition of student volunteers for joining the fight against the epidemic, as Vice-Chairperson Fengliang LI presented awards to the commended them. They have established a “special volunteer service team for children of anti-epidemic workers hand in hand,” spontaneously forming a campus “help group” and voluntarily participating in community epidemic prevention and control. During the critical period of epidemic prevention and control, the students have done well to stay home and keep safe; furthermore, they have contributed their time to the anti-epidemic work with a fearless spirit and demonstrated the true spirit of “patriotism, progress, responsibility, perseverance, and respect for beauty” through their practical actions and traits.
The gala continued with blessings from senior students, videos of blessings from parents, and lottery drawings interspersed throughout the event until the evening was eventually brought to the climax. The party hosted by the SUSTech Student Union was brought to a successful conclusion with the final performance of “All the Way to the South” sung by the choir. As for the Class of 2024, this new journey has just begun, and they will continue to move forward on the path of pursuing their dreams and create even more beautiful achievements.
