SUSTech establishes Calligraphy and Painting Association

On May 12, 2021, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held the unveiling ceremony of the SUSTech Calligraphy and Painting Association. Yurong GUO, University Council Chairperson, Fengliang LI, University Council Vice Chairperson, and Xianliang CAI, Curator of the He Xiangning Art Museum, attended the ceremony.

The SUSTech Calligraphy and Painting Association is a voluntary non-profit organization formed by faculty and staff of the University. The association aims to promote the art of calligraphy and painting, invigorate the cultural atmosphere on campus, and improve the cultural and artistic accomplishments of faculty members.

Yurong GUO said that the newly formed association provides a platform for calligraphy and painting enthusiasts to communicate and learn from each other, which will add to the artistic flavor around the campus. It will play an important role in promoting Chinese traditional cultures at SUSTech.

Dejun WANG, Director of the Political Education and Research Center and Head of the SUSTech Calligraphy and Painting Association, spoke about the future plans of the association. As the special advisor of the association, Xianliang CAI gave a brief lecture on the issues of learning calligraphy and spoke about the approaches to master it.

Henian E, Curator of the University Library, and other members of the association also attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Yang ZHANG, Vice Chairman of the Labor Union.
