SUSTech students achieve excellent results in 2021 Global MAX Performance Cloud Computing Innovation Competition

On April 20, the 2021 Global MAX Performance Cloud Computing Innovation Competition (2021 MAXP Competition) concluded after 1,448 teams from 14 countries and regions around the world participated in the competition.

Students from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) teamed up with the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICT, CAS), and finished runners-up in the competition.

The participating members from SUSTech included Lang FU and Laoming ZHANG, graduate students of the Nature Inspired Computation and Applications Laboratory (NICAL Lab) at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Peng YANG, Research Associate Professor of the Department of CSE, and Research Assistant Professor Guiying LI, who were responsible for technical guidance. Additionally, the team was supported by the Joint Innovation Laboratory between the Department of CSE of SUSTech and Shenzhen Securities Information Co., Ltd.

The 2021 MAXP Competition was organized by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and the High-Performance Computing Committee of the China Computer Federation (CCF). It was jointly sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on High-Performance Computing (ACM SIGHPC), the Open Source Cloud Alliance for Industry (OSCAR), Amazon Web Services, and Tencent Cloud.
