On April 9, a delegation led by Tongzhou WANG, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Communications Construction Company Ltd. (CCCC), visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) for exchanges.
The meeting was attended by Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech; Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost; and Jianghong SHI, Director of the Organization and United Front Work Office, along with representatives from both institutions.
President Qikun XUE highlighted that since the strategic cooperation agreement between CCCC and SUSTech was signed on March 11, the two sides have engaged in multiple exchanges and collaborations, particularly in areas such as green and low-carbon development, circular economy, and big data applications.
As a global leader in infrastructure, CCCC plays a key role in advancing national strategies. SUSTech, as a new type of research university based in Shenzhen, strives to meet major national needs. President XUE expressed optimism that the two parties would continue to align their efforts with national strategic priorities, build a long-term cooperative framework, and establish a model of deep integration between academia, industry, and research.
Chairman Tongzhou WANG acknowledged SUSTech’s rapid and high-quality development, noting that since signing the strategic cooperation agreement, both sides have initiated projects across multiple fields and made steady progress in their shared objectives. In terms of research collaboration, joint efforts are already underway in green and low-carbon technologies, with plans to further expand into areas such as marine science, green technology, energy-transport integration, and renewable energy utilization.
Regarding talent development, Chairman WANG emphasized the need for practice-oriented education and interdisciplinary cooperation to cultivate internationally-minded, well-rounded talents. He expressed his hope to build an innovative ecosystem that integrates industry, academia, and research, contributing to high-quality, mutually beneficial development.
Other notable attendees in the discussions were Chengyun LIU, Deputy General Manager of CCCC; Ming LIN, Chief Scientist of CCCC; and Qing HU, Director of the Engineering Innovation Center (Beijing) at SUSTech and Professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering.
Tongzhou WANG and the delegation also visited SUSTech’s Institute of Robotics and Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center, gaining an in-depth understanding of the University’s research facilities.
