Transforming into a smart campus: SUSTech's effort to enhance educational experiences

The campus of any university is a symbol of its city and a home for its members. After more than ten years of construction and development, at the foot of the Tanglang Mountains and by the side of the Dasha River, a beautiful university campus that blends tradition and modernity has quietly risen at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). The campus combines a humanistic and practical spirit, leaving the most beautiful university environment suitable for study, research, and pleasure for every SUSTecher.

Creating a livable campus

In 2022, Shanghai Ranking released the results of a survey on the satisfaction of Chinese college students. In the section on campus environment satisfaction, SUSTech was placed first. The survey, carried out in more than 2,000 colleges and universities across the country, collected students' feelings and experiences in the areas of teaching, environment, life, service, and personal growth of their universities.

In 2019, the selection of China's Most Beautiful University, organized by the editorial department of New Weekly, lasted for one month. Based on the combined opinions of more than 30,000 students who participated in the voting, four specially invited judges, and the editorial department of New Weekly, and focusing on indicators such as campus construction, discipline development, and humanistic beauty, the SUSTech campus was ranked among the top ten in the country.

The Third Lecture Hall: a combination of style and technologies

In August, as part of one of the buildings of the second phase project of SUSTech, the Third Lecture Hall was officially put into use, providing faculty members and students with an intelligent, open, and shared teaching environment.

The Third Lecture Hall is situated at the center of the SUSTech campus, surrounded by the College of Science, Lynn Library, and the College of Business. It has five floors and 56 classrooms, occupying an area of 5,800 square meters. The design of the Third Lecture Hall strives to present SUSTech's characteristics, breaking the limitations of traditional classrooms and blending the space for more teaching space.
