In 2022, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) set up a work team to accomplish the goals in the second round of the "pairing assistance" program for Huizhou University. The University sent four teachers and set up six supporting groups, including party building, discipline construction, talent cultivation, faculty recruitment, teacher development, scientific and technological innovation, and social services, to facilitate effective collaboration in the program.

SUSTech worked with four key departments and six second-level colleges from Huizhou University on an application for postgraduate degree-conferred units. The work team organized more than 30 high-level talents to go to Huizhou University for academic exchanges and effectively promoted the introduction of talents at Huizhou University. As for promoting academic exchanges, two sharing sessions were held at the East River Lecture Series, and the two parties organized one international academic conference.

Furthermore, according to the "pairing assistance" program, SUSTech launched a project to support the development of Yuanshan Town, Lianping County, Heyuan City. In 2022, the University's leadership led a team to Hehu Village, Yuanshan Town, twice to investigate and hold a joint meeting and a symposium on party building and co-construction to promote rural revitalization.

SUSTech organized seven batches to carry out pairing assistance work and helped 198 people to overcome poverty through multiple measures to realize the revitalization of Hehu Village. The University invested nearly 1.2 million yuan in five assistance projects and carried out an agricultural products promotion program. As a result, the collective income of Hehu Village has increased by nearly 240,000 yuan, and it completed the provincial target three years ahead of schedule. SUSTech has coordinated various assistance funds of over 4,6 million yuan to upgrade infrastructure projects.

To promote education in the Hehu village, SUSTech donated a number of teaching supplies to Hehu Primary School, and professors from the University volunteered to give lectures on the Chinese language and culture to primary school students.

The "pairing assistance" program benefited Zhaoqing City and its basic education in the Longmen area. Four meetings and three online training sessions were held throughout the year to empower the high-quality and comprehensive development of basic education, with a total of 450 teachers trained on both sides. To further consolidate the pairing assistance projects between SUSTech and Zhaoqing City, a liaison and consultation platform was set up by both sides. A leading group for basic education development was established for high-quality growth in Zhaoqing City and Longmen County.
