SUSTech Chairperson led delegation to Shanghai Jiaotong and Xiamen Universities

Last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong led a delegation to Shanghai Jiaotong University and Xiamen University, in order to gather new skills for university administration.. The delegation included Director Chen Siqi of the Party and Government Office, Wang Pengfei of the Preparatory Office of the Affiliated Hospitals and senior leaders from other departments.

Chairperson Guo Yurong led the delegation first to Shanghai Jiaotong University. Shanghai Jiaotong University President Lin Zhongqin and senior department heads briefed the SUSTech deputation about Shanghai Jiaotong University’s development history, administrative reform and medical school management. Both sides talked in-depth about the management of universities, developing new engineering and the future of universities. After their meeting, the SUSTech delegation attended the 120th anniversary of Shanghai Jiaotong University.

The SUSTech deputation traveled to Xiamen to visit the Xiang’an Campus and Siming Campus of Xiamen University, as well as Xiang’an Hospital affiliated to Xiamen University. They met with President Zhang Yan and Vice President Han Jiahuai of Xiamen University, where they discussed the best ways to develop medical schools and affiliated hospitals, as well as student management and logistical services.

The final day of the trip saw Chairperson Guo Yurong and the rest of the delegation pay a special visit to Mr. Pan Maoyuan, the founder of China’s higher education disciplines. They introduced the development of SUSTech, and listened to Pan Maoyuan’s opinions on future innovations for colleges and universities in the new era.
