Last weekend, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the “Urban Research in the Intelligent Age” Forum. More than 40 experts and scholars from across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Province came to SUSTech to discuss the impact of the intelligent era on urban planning and design, literary creation and scientific creation. SUSTech Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Li Fengliang attended the forum, which was hosted by Tongji University Professor Wan Shuyuan.

Li Fengliang introduced “Shenzhen Speed” and how it relates to the development of SUSTech. He also discussed SUSTech’s unique features in developing its talent pipeline, its academic disciplines and international partnerships, while looking forward to the outcomes of the forum.

Chair Professor Zhou Yongming from the Center for Social Sciences was one of three keynote speakers. Experts and scholars discussed many important issues, such as smart cities, contemporary daily space, intelligent transport and technology, the protection of cultural heritage, smart homes, big data and cyborg technology.

The forum was sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences at SUSTech and the Cultural Industry Planning and Research Center at Tongji University. The Hangzhou International Urban Studies Research Center and the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts at SUSTech were also involved in the forum.
