Recently, the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held a seminar about its 2019 postgraduate training program.

Experts and scholars from around mainland China attended the seminar and representatives from 10 departments at SUSTech. MAE Department Head Shan Xiaowen briefed the group about the development of mechanics, as well as the reasons for reassessing the training program.

The participating experts combined their advanced experience from various universities to put forward suggestions on the evaluation mechanism of postgraduate training. Issues such as postgraduate training target orientation and curriculum setting were discussed. Experts agreed that postgraduate training should be combined with the regional advantages and the unique departmental features to develop distinctive postgraduate education. The connection of the curriculum between master’s and doctoral education should be strengthened.

This expert seminar provided new ideas for interdisciplinary training models for mechanics at SUSTech.
