Late last month faculty members from the School of Humanities & Social Sciences visited Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant to learn about nuclear power in Daya Bay and the development of nuclear power in China. Dean Chen Yuehong of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences led the faculty group.
Daya Bay Nuclear Power Base is China’s first large-scale commercial nuclear power plant with a total area of about 10 square kilometers. It has the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant and the Ling’ao Nuclear Power Plant Phase I and the Ling’ao Nuclear Power Plant Phase II. The faculty and staff visited the exhibition hall of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Base under the reception of China General Nuclear Power Group to understand the overall picture of the Daya Bay nuclear power base and the principles of nuclear power generation. The faculty and staff also studied the Ling’ao Nuclear Power Plant Phase I Observation Deck and the Daya Bay Neutrino Experimental Station.
The faculty members appreciated their enhanced understanding of nuclear power in Daya Bay, and the important role it has played in the development of the Greater Bay Area and China as a whole.
