On March 25th, a delegation from the Thurston Economic Development Council came to visit SUSTech and was greeted by Professor Hou Shengtao, Dean of the International Cooperation Department of SUSTech. Both parties used the opportunity to underline the importance of maintaining close cooperation and exchanges.

Professor Hou introduced the delegation to SUSTech’s facilities and structure, from how the university is operated to the personnel training, the scientific research and the innovation and entrepreneurship focused spirit. He also explained how the city of Shenzhen builds close ties with SUSTech and vice-versa in a mutually beneficial relationship.

The delegation expressed it’s strong desire to build closer ties with the university, particularly in the domain of offering overseas internships to the students and pooling resources, because it believes the training and development here at SUSTech, and to a wider extent, in the city of Shenzhen, has big potential for the global industry.

The delegation was composed of Executive Director Michael Cade, Board Chairman Perry Shea, Mayor of Aberdeen, Washington Erik Larson, Director of International Relations of Evergreen State College David McCavity, and Professor of Economics of the University of Saint Martin’s Professor Riley Moore.
