On May 31st 2017, a seminar was held at SUSTech with the State Council Academic Degrees Committee to review the Geophysics Postgraduate course.

The symposium was chaired by Professors Chen Xiaofei and Wan Weixing.
The meeting reviewed the establishment and completion of the Geophysics Discipline Review Group, and focused on the research work and the construction of postgraduate courses. The course review group and the delegates discussed the construction of the postgraduate course in geophysics including the curriculum setting, teaching material, teaching content and evaluation methods, and summarized the main problems in order to put forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions.
After the meeting, the delegates agreed that communication between the review group and the university should be strengthened. It was recommended that the discipline review team conduct regular research activities between degree authorization points to promote the development of disciplines and postgraduate courses.
