Last week saw the launch of a resource-sharing platform for scientific and technological innovation (https://www.irshare.cn), under the auspices of the Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Commission (SZSTIC). Southern University of Science and Technology is a proud contributor to that platform, offering over one thousand pieces of equipment, and nearly 15% of the total equipment value on the platform. SUSTech Core Research Facilities (SCRF) deputy Director Dr. Alan Man-Ching Ng attended the launch.

The platform aims to improve the level of scientific and technological innovation by invigorating the existing sci-tech innovation resources and reducing the R&D costs of enterprises. Basic services include information reporting, service release, information query, online appointment and online order follow-up of large-scale scientific instrument facilities and inspection and testing services. Instrument sharing and inspection and testing services all support the use of innovation vouchers. 370 units have access to the network and nearly ten thousand instrument sets have been made available.

Equipment such as helium ion microscopes, 400MHz NMR, scanning electron microscopes and magnetic property measurement system (MPMS3) has been put on line.

SUSTech established its Core Research Facilities in September 2013. It is a public scientific research platform, providing testing services for users inside and outside the university. SCRF supports 260 research groups within SUSTech who have published papers in top SCI-standard academic journals such as Science and Nature, and more than four thousand registered users have logged more than one hundred thousand machine hours in the last twelve months on its sixty large cutting-edge scientific instrument sets.
