Last weekend, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was entertained with the University of Macau Student Union Drama Club, who brought their self-written production “Pleasure comes through toil” to campus. Students and faculty members found the production highly enjoyable.
“Pleasure comes through toil” was written to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the return of Macao to the People’s Republic of China. It seeks to demonstrate the struggles and achievements of the people of Macao, and has toured across the Greater Bay Area for many weeks. SUSTech was the 2nd stop on the Shenzhen stage of the tour.
This is the first drama tour for the University of Macau Student Union Drama Club that has been organized and funded entirely by the students. As part of their time at SUSTech, they worked with the Global Engagement Office (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office), Center for the Arts and Youth League Committee.
The performances at SUSTech attracted many members of the SUSTech community as well as the local community. The enthralling performance saw enthusiastic responses from the audience, and led to considerable debate after the performance between the actors & audience members.
