Beihang University Professor promotes professional development on teaching

November 28 saw Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hold its sixth professional development lecture for its teachers. Beihang University Professor Wang Qi came to give a talk on “Using modern IT to promote teaching and research ability.” Teaching Affairs Director Huang Kefu presided over the lecture.

Beihang University Professor Wang Qi is from the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering of Beihang University. In 2003, he won the National Distinguished Teacher Award. At present, he is a member of the steering committee for the course on elementary mechanics of the Ministry of Education and the professional committee of the general mechanics of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.

Professor Wang Qi reviewed his scientific research and teaching experience before providing specific suggestions on how to improve their abilities in these areas. He pointed out that teachers should combine research and teaching as a way of updating and supplementing their teaching materials. They should also maintain sharp communication lines with students and colleagues to find new ways to improve. Professor Wang also spoke about different ways to introduce modern information technology (IT) into curriculum development and teaching reform.

Professor Wang Qi took many questions from the participating teachers at the end of his presentation.
