On December 3rd, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) organized a delegation to come to SUSTech. MEXT Education Policy Bureau (Educational Reform and International Affairs Division) Director Miura Kazuyuki led the delegation. He was joined by Gifu Women’s University Professor Ikuta Takashi. Niigata University had two representatives on the delegation in the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences Associate Professor Ohba Masaaki and Institute of Education and Student Affairs Support Center Associate Professor Gotoh Yasushi.
Center for Higher Education Research (CHER) Director Shen Hong welcomed the delegation and provided a briefing about SUSTech. Global Engagement Office (GEO) Associate Director Li Xu spoke about SUSTech’s work in developing partnerships with other universities around the world, including with Japanese universities. Center for Language Education (CLE) Director and Teaching Affairs Office Deputy Director Li Yuan explained SUSTech’s work in developing its talent pipelines. Office of Research representative Jia Huihui talked about SUSTech’s scientific achievements. Office of Strategic Planning representative Chen Qiongqiong briefed the delegation about the development plans of SUSTech.
The Japanese delegation congratulated SUSTech on its achievements, seeking to develop extensive cooperation with SUSTech. They also spoke about the reforms of higher education in Japan.
